La Ritournelle” is a song by Sébastien Tellier from his 2004 album Politics. It was released as a single on September 26th 2005, and along with the original, this included remixes by Mr. Dan, Jim Noir and Jake Bullit. The track received much critical acclaim. In 2009, the track was used in Five US’s ‘scroller’ ident, which features bird’s eye views of New York at night. On www.thebeatsurrender.co.uk, Kev writes: “Tellier has created one of the most beautiful, symphonic dance tracks you’ll ever hear in your lives”. The Song was also used in the eleventh episode of the third season of ABCs hit show Ugly Betty.

Broken Bells is an American indie rock band featuring artist–producer Danger Mouse (billed by his real name, Brian Burton) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Portland indie rock band The Shins. The project was first announced on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The pair decided to work together after meeting at a Danish music festival in 2004 and finding they were fans of each other’s work. Mercer and Burton began recording together in secret at Burton’s Los Angeles-based studio in March 2008 and describe their material as “melodic, but experimental, too”.
On December 14 the band released their first email update, in which a binary-coded message stating ‘The High Road is hard to find’ was displayed, offering a link to the band’s web page, now with a new color scheme, for ‘further details’. On the morning of December 21, the band informed fans in an e-mail message of the release of their debut single “The High Road”, which was made available as a free download on their official site. Local Natives (formerly known as Cavil at Rest) are an indie rock band based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, USA. Their debut album, Gorilla Manor (which is also the name they gave to a house they all shared in Orange County”) was released in the UK in 2009. The bands sound has been described as “afropop-influenced guitars with hyperactive drumming and hooky three-part harmonies”. They started to attract the attention of the music press after playing nine shows at the 2009 SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Initial reviews of Local Natives have drawn favourable comparisons to Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes and Vampire Weekend.

In This Light and On This Evening is the third studio album from British band Editors. It was released on 12 October 2009. The band had said the material would have a more raw and anthemic sound compared to their previous work. The first single will be “Papillon”.
The album features a bonus extended play of five songs, called Cuttings 2.
Tom Smith explained the band’s change in direction by saying: “If we’d tried to make another more traditional guitar record, I don’t think we’d have got through it… for our own sanity, we had to do something we hadn’t done before.” He also revealed that the heavily synthesised and industrial feel of the album had evolved in a recording session that took place in 2008, before they settled on Flood as a producer. Bassist Russell Leetch said the experience of working with Flood had been “the most fun we’ve ever had in a studio” and hinted that the band would be likely to work with him again. Smith’s home city of London dominates the album, both lyrically and musically. He said: “‘I actually think it’s in every song. In the right time and place, in the right light and on the right evening, something you have seen 1,000 times before can still take your breath away whilst the background of electronic whirrs and hums that run under many of the tracks mimic the constant background noise of the city.”

Manchester-based indie-rock band Delphic wanted a unique music video for their futuristic-sounding new single, ‘This Momentary’. Pulse Films took the unprecedented step of filming the music video in Chernobyl, the site of the 1986 nuclear explosion in Russia. Unusually, the video was shot in a documentary style. Director by Dave Ma and producer by Neil Andrews.

Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme is a documentary film that follows the art of freestyle, improvisational hip-hop. This independent release includes extemporaneous performances by artists such as Mos Def, The Roots, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Cut Chemist, Jurassic 5, and many others. Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme won the prize of “Best Documentary” at the Urban World Film Festival.

“Beggin’” is the title of a song composed by Bob Gaudio and Peggy Farina and popularized by The Four Seasons in 1967. The Four Seasons (since 1967, known off and on as Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons–although not shown that way on any of their hit records), is an American pop and rock group. They also had a sound somewhat reminiscent of doo-wop, although they were not thought of as a doo-wop quartet. By the mid 1960s, The Four Seasons had become an internationally famous rock-and-roll group.

“Beggin’”, the second single from the Four Seasons’ New Gold Hits album in 1967, marked Gaudio’s “return” as the Seasons’ songwriter, with a combination of Valli’s impassioned soul singing and the band’s more contemporary instrumentation. It also was the first Seasons single since “Dawn (Go Away)” on which Gaudio collaborated with a lyricist other than Four Seasons producer Bob Crewe, as lyrics were contributed by Peggy Farina (aka Peggy Santiglia of The Angels, who sang lead on the 1960s hit “My Boyfriend’s Back” and was frequently used as a background singer by Crewe).
It reached the #16 position on the Hot 100 charts, continuing the group’s string of Billboard Top 20 hits. However, it was overshadowed by Valli’s “solo” recording of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, a Gaudio-Crewe composition, which rose to number two. It was the last Gaudio composition for the Four Seasons to chart in the Top 20 until 1975′s “Who Loves You”.
The song is included in Act Two of the Broadway musical about the Four Seasons, Jersey Boys.

In 2007, French disk jockey Pilooski re-edited and released his version of the Four Seasons song on 2 June. This version reached #32 in the UK and #1 on the UK Dance Chart. It is the first single from the album “Beggin’ The Ultimate Collection”. The Pilooski re-edit does not include any new instrumentation or vocals but is purely a manipulation and remix of the original Four Seasons recording, using echo and phase-polarisation.

A 2009 remix, similar to the Pilooski remix, of the original “Beggin’” has been used in adidas’ “House Party” commercial featuring many celebrities past and present who were sponsored by the company, which was promoting 60 years of “outfitting the world in three stripes.” Celebrities who make an appearance in the commercial include David Beckham, Missy Elliot, Katy Perry, The Ting Tings, Kevin Garnett, Young Jeezy, Russell Simmons, Estelle, Redman and Method Man, among others. This remix was made specifically for the video by a Montreal company called Boogie Studio, and various remixes that they did for the ad campaign can be found on their blog.
The song is also being used as part of the BBC’s coverage of the 2009/2010 Formula One Championship, primarily during course run-through.

In 2007, the same year as the Pilooski remix, the Norwegian hip-hop group Madcon recorded and released a new version of the song. The version became very popular in Norway, reaching #1 on the charts.[1] Madcon’s version of the song is a total re-recording, all instruments were performed by the production team 3Elementz, and all vocals by Madcon. The single is 6 times platinum and the highest selling song in Norway in 2007, and has received the “hit of the year” Spellemannprisen award. The song is also becoming popular throughout Europe; In France it reached #1, in the UK it reached #5, and in Germany it peaked at #7
