Wolfram Alpha (also written as WolframAlpha and Wolfram|Alpha) is an answer engine developed by Wolfram Research. It is an online service that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from structured data, rather than providing a list of documents or web pages that might contain the answer as a search engine might. It was announced in March 2009 by Stephen Wolfram, and was released to the public on May 15, 2009.

Google krijgt geen toestemming om in het Duitse plaatsje Molfsee foto’s te maken voor het online project Streetview. De Gemeenteraadsvoorzitter van het plaatsje wil Google dringen toestemming te vragen om het plaatjes te mogen fotograferen, dat 4500 inwoners telt.

The Turkish designer Hakan Bogazpinar’s has a design solution for aerial photography for the height of summertime madness. The Flee Digital Camera is like Nerf-vision, capturing images from vantage points otherwise only experienced by low-flying and vigilant feathered friends. When the “flee” thrown away, it starts taking photos in costumized time interval and sending them to your mobile phone by using the bluetooth signal.

The Lemur is a top of the range control surface for audio and media applications, that breaks from the prior art on several grounds. Its major innovation consists in its brilliant modular graphic interface concept.

The Lemur Input Device is a highly-customizable multi-touch device from French company JazzMutant which serves as a controller for musical devices such as synthesizers and mixing consoles as well as for other media applications such as video performances. As an audio tool, the Lemur’s role is equivalent to that of a MIDI controller in a MIDI studio setup, except that the Lemur uses the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol, a proposed high-speed networking replacement for MIDI. The controller is especially well-suited for use with Reaktor and Max/MSP, tools for building custom software synthesizers.

Rf id mon amour 1.0 is a kit for designers, artists and architects, which allows the realization of interactive exhibitions in a very simple manner, without any specific knowledge of programming or electronics. With RF-ID mon amour you can “map” each rfid tag to a video (any QuickTime readable format is allowed) just by placing them on the reader and selecting a file.

Radiohead just released a new video for its song “House of Cards” from the album “In Rainbows”. No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes. The engine to make the video is a opensource app made in processing.

In de Ban van het Ding, is een nieuwe programma op Nederland 3. Het nieuwe programma In de ban van het ding is een docusoap over nieuwe technologie in het dagelijks leven. Het Tv programma lijkt erg veel op Bright.tv, dat is ook niet zo vreemd wat de redactie wordt gedaan door Bright magazine. In de ban van het ding wordt wekelijks op zaterdag uitgezonden om 20.40 uur op Nederland 3 bij de VPRO.

Ontwikkeld door Microsoft Desktop Concept center.
Die Interface, ik zou er gek van worden. van mij mag het wel wat minder. “Keep it simple” Gelukkig zijn er nog maar 2.

Maar voor productie lijnen is het een goed toepassing moet zeggen.
Denk aan een combinatie met PLC bijvoorbeeld.

Dit komt me toch erg bekend voor.

Blue Eye interactive scanner table “2006″
The Blue Eye table has a glass surface and overhead camera, a projector and a mirror underneath the table. By placing an object on the table surface you can copy it to the screen beneath. Once the image of the object is imported, “images can then easily be moved, stretched and even animated by a user.”

This table is similar to the upright Microsoft TouchLight technology which lets users move and manipulate three-dimensional images with their hands. We also posted about the iBar interactive bar table, which is geared more towards design and pleasure, letting users create patterns of glowing light when touched. The DeLightTable by Thomas Gardner, an ‘interactive coffee table’, is also similair to the iBar interactive table.

Ianus Keller werkte precies aan het zelfde concept, onder de naam “het Cabinet”, waarmee hij starten in november 1999. Wat andere woorden, Ianus je was vroeg bij !!!.

Cabinet is a tool that helps designers collect and organize the visual material for inspiration. It does this by making the interaction with digital material more physical (designers can drag digital images on a table as if they are real objects) and by offering a fluent way to add physical material to the digital collection (anything placed on the table is digitized and projected in place, and can be added to the collection).
