<p>I think those 3 guys have laughing there asses off in a way. This campaign is brilliant in every sense. A trip of 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles of traveling with 2 camera&#8217;s and that all commissioned by <a href="http://www.statravel.com.au/i-want-to-know.htm">STA Travel Australia</a>. Just Brilliant. Bring that all back in a 3 one minute movies, and you have a online campaign. The best concepts are coming out of happiness, fun and a perfect chemistry between people, and i think those guy had it all with in this campaign &#8220;Move Eat and Learn&#8221; The editing is outstanding. The simplicity in the transition and the music makes this campaign a direct hit from Sta Travel Australia.</p>

<p>In 2002 Steven Spielberg asked <strong><a href="http://www.addadog.com/">Kuntzel and Deygas</a></strong> to create the opening title sequence for the movie &#8220;catch me if you can&#8221;. The design and the movement of typography were so unique and fresh, that this title sequence became one of the most mythical opening title sequences for the large screen.</p>
<p>In 2006 KLM came out with an advertising campaign in print as well as motion and this week expedia.nl released their new TV commercial. Both are inspired by this phenomenal title sequence.</p>
<p>As a motion designer you want to make a difference, like Kuntzel and Deygas. Copying someone else’s work will only give you a chance to become as good as the one you’re copying, that’s the best-case scenario. A copy will usually never be as good as the original because it always remains one step behind. Even worse, it will end up as a look alike or a cheap imitation. This is not really truth.!!!!!!!!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not about copying a design, you must steal it. !!!<br />
Let me explain.</p>

<p><strong>Good artists copy, great artists steal</strong> <em>&#8220;Pablo Picasso&#8221;</em></p>
<p> When you look at an inspirational design you should be inspired. You must take your time to examine its aesthetic and construction in detail. Find out how the creator did it and extract the essence of what makes this work great. To steal a design you must collect all the pieces of the puzzle and figure out how it all works as a whole.</p>
<p>Why did the artist use those colors, why these lines, why that typeface?</p>
<p>If you stealing a design you must be able to digest and absorb the essence of an inspirational design.<br />
Stealing gives you the real gold. It gives you the knowledge how to create the work in question. Expand your arsenal of design techniques through learning instead of copying.</p>
<p>Once you’ve assimilated the principles and ideas employed by a designer of his great piece, you can use those ideas in your own work. You want, no you will not going to copy them again.</p>
<p>You will instead use these tools only where they make sense, and only where they will work well.<br />
That’s because you understand exactly why they were employed in the first place.</p>
<p>Being inspired is a good thing, and being able to take advantage of those ideas, build on them further with your own twist and perspective will produce great results.<br />
But there are still artists out there, who don&#8217;t know this math.</p>

<p>In 1957, Jim Henson was approached by a Washington, D.C. coffee company to produce commercials for Wilkins Coffee. The local stations only had ten seconds for station identification, so the Muppet commercials had to be lightning-fast &#8212; essentially, eight seconds for the commercial pitch and a two-second shot of the product. From 1957 to 1961, Henson made 179 commercials for Wilkins Coffee and other Wilkins products, including Community Coffee and Wilkins Tea. The ads were so successful and well-liked that they sparked a series of remakes for companies in other local markets throughout the 1960s.<br />
The ads starred the cheerful Wilkins, who liked Wilkins Coffee, and the grumpy Wontkins, who hated it. Wilkins would often do serious harm to Wontkins in the ads &#8212; blowing him up, stabbing him with a knife, and smashing him with a club, among many other violent acts. Wilkins and Wontkins were generally the only characters in the commercials, though on rare occasions, such critters as a Muppet whale or baby birds would appear. Company owner Mr. Wilkins was also invoked more than once. The characters proved so popular that in October 1958, the company offered vinyl puppets of Wilkins and Wontkins through the mail for $1.00 and a coffee can label. The offer on the can said, &#8220;Hey Kids! I&#8217;m Wilkins &#8212; he&#8217;s Wontkins &#8212; you see us on TV!&#8221; Obviously, Wilkins Coffee and Henson knew that the Muppet characters had kid appeal, although this doesn&#8217;t seem to have had any effect on the use of violence and terror in the ads.</p>

<p>Hij is afgekeurd als reclame voor Centraal Beheer. Maar deze week verscheen de Adam en Eva-versie van ‘Even Apeldoorn bellen…’ toch op internet. En daar is het, met honderdduizenden views in een paar dagen, een ware kijkcijferhit.</p>
<p>Eva loopt vredig rond in het paradijs als ze Adam tegenkomt. Maar die blijkt liever zijn vijgenblad mooi te willen maken, dan met Eva de mensheid op gang te brengen. Even Apeldoorn bellen dus. Zowel gelovigen als homoseksuelen zouden aanstoot kunnen nemen aan de reclame en dus verwees het reclamebureau DDB hem eind 2007 naar de prullenbak.</p>
<p>Reclamevakblad Adformatie berrichtte daar toen over en kreeg via een geheim gehouden bron vorige week het filmpje alsnog in handen. ‘Omdat we er eind 2007 over hadden geschreven, had het voor ons nieuwswaarde om de reclame nu alsnog te laten zien’, zegt hoofdredacteur Leon Bouwman.</p>
<p>Het reclamebureau DDB uit Amstelveen is helemaal niet blij dat het filmpje is uitgelekt. ‘Het was absoluut nooit de bedoeling dat het filmpje ooit naar buiten kwam. Wij hebben hem afgekeurd omdat we hem te ver vonden gaan’, zegt woordvoerder David van Eeghen.</p>
<p>Het concept is natuurlijk wel heel vaak besproken en goed gekeurd voordat er is geïnvesteerd in de professionele opname. Bouwman: ‘Pas helemaal aan het einde heeft iemand van de Raad van Bestuur bedacht dat het misschien te ver zou gaan.’</p>
<p>DBB geeft toe dat de commercial wel pas in een heel laat stadium is afgekeurd, maar zo kan dat gaan volgens Van Eeghen. ‘Als je een aansprekende reclame wilt maken, zoek je de grens op van wat nog wel leuk is. In dit geval vonden we dat die grens was overschreden en daarom hebben we hem afgekeurd. We willen geen grappen maken ten koste van anderen.’ Van Eeghen noemt het een kwalijke zaak dat die beslissing niet is gerespecteerd en het filmpje toch naar buiten is gebracht.</p>
<p>Viral<br />
Zou de film, gezien de goede kijkcijfers op internet, dan niet toch een hit kunnen zijn geworden? Van Eeghen vindt van niet en wil alle geruchten de wereld uithelpen dat het stiekem om een viral zou gaan. ‘De commentaren die eronder staan zijn niet alleen maar jolig. Ze laten ook zien dat er veel mensen zijn die zich afvragen of dit de manier is om als bedrijf te laten zien dat je goed bezig bent.’</p>
<p>Aan het einde van de reclame is de tekst in het Engels. In plaats van ‘Even Apeldoorn bellen’ staat er ‘Just call us’. ‘Dat is niet het officiële einde, dat is er pas later aan toegevoegd’, zegt Van Eeghen. ‘Door wie, dat is de grote vraag.’</p>
<p>DDB en Centraal Beheer onderzoeken nog of zij verdere stappen ondernemen. Van Eeghen: ‘We willen in elk geval niet dat de reclame nog meer aandacht krijgt.’</p>
